Contributed Article in Hokuryukan's 'Monthly Cell (THE CELL)' June 2026 Issue — AI-Robot-Driven Cell Medicine Development

Taku Tsuzuki, Director & CTO of Epistra Inc., and Yosuke Ozawa, CEO, contributed an article titled “AI-Robot-Driven Cell Medicine Development” to the Industrial Info section of Monthly Cell (THE CELL) June 2026 issue, published by Hokuryukan on May 22, 2026.

Cell medicine research and development involves many factors governing the response, significant variability in operations, and high per-trial costs — making it necessary to reach optimal conditions within a limited number of experiments. The article presents a methodology for connecting high-quality data generation by industrial robots with Epistra’s experimental condition generation AI “Epistra Accelerate” in a closed loop. Alongside a validated case study of NK cell medicine manufacturing process optimization, the article also discusses the potential for applying this approach upstream in drug discovery, including target identification. Please refer to the journal for full details.

The same issue’s Technical Lecture section also features a co-authored article on the general-purpose humanoid robot LabDroid “Mahoro” by our CEO Ozawa, Dr. Kenji Matsukuma, President of Robotic Biology Institute Inc., and Mr. Atsushi Inoue, General Manager of the Digital Process Innovation Division at Cellfa Bioscience Inc.
